Booking for a parent or child? Keep the details clear.

A simple way to distinguish the person booking from the person visiting the doctor.

The account holder and patient may be different people

A daughter might organise her father's appointment; a parent might book a visit for a child. The person using the phone is not always the person receiving care. Keeping that distinction clear helps prevent confusion at the clinic.

Use the booking option for someone else and enter or select the person who will attend. Before you confirm, read the patient's name again rather than assuming it matches the person signed in.

Coordinate the practical details together

Agree on the clinic, date and consultation type with the person attending, or with the adult responsible for a child's visit. Check who will travel with them and who can answer a call about the appointment.

A short, shared note can be enough: patient name, doctor, clinic address, appointment date and confirmation reference. Keep sensitive information out of public group chats. Share booking details directly with the people who need them.

Make the handover easy

If you book but will not accompany the patient, make sure they can find the clinic address and confirmation. A saved note or printed copy can help when mobile data or battery power is unreliable.

Ask the clinic about any requirements for an accompanying adult or arrival check-in. Do not assume that an online booking settles every detail of the visit.

Check the right appointment before making a change

When a family has several bookings, similar names or nearby dates can be easy to mix up. Open My appointments and verify the patient, doctor and date before using any available cancellation or rescheduling action.

If a change cannot be completed in the account, contact the clinic. Tell the person attending about the new arrangement, and replace the old note so that everyone is working from the same details.
