Before you go
A little planning for a calmer clinic visit
Keep your address, appointment details and practical questions together before leaving home.

Put the essentials in one place
The most useful preparation is often practical. Keep your appointment confirmation, clinic address and contact details together. Check that the booking is for the correct person, location and date.
If the doctor works at more than one clinic, use the address on this appointment rather than relying on where you visited previously. Check the route before leaving and allow for the journey that day.
Know what your booking means
Look for whether you have selected a fixed appointment time or a token sitting. Follow the clinic's arrival instructions. If the instructions are unclear, ask reception when you should arrive and how check-in works.
A typical wait estimate is useful for planning, but it is still an estimate. If you have a firm travel or work constraint, discuss it with the clinic in advance rather than assuming the consultation will finish at a particular time.
Write down the questions you want answered
It is easy to forget practical questions during a busy visit. You might want to ask how results will be shared, who to contact about an appointment change, or how a follow-up is arranged. A short note helps you remember them.
If the clinic has asked you to bring documents or previous records, gather those ahead of time. Follow preparation instructions from your clinician; this appointment checklist does not replace them.
Leave with the next step clear
Before leaving, clarify any appointment or administrative next step. If another visit is needed, ask how it should be booked and which consultation category applies. Keep any receipt or booking reference somewhere you can find again.
For the next visit, reuse the practical details that remain correct and recheck the ones that may have changed. A familiar clinic can still have a different schedule, location or fee.
